The Signal Butte Forest Fire was one of two major fires that caused hazy sky conditions in Colorado during the summer of 2002. These images were recorded at the Mt. Evans Observatory near Georgetown, Colorado on the evening of June 18, 2002. The observatory, operated by the University of Denver, is situated at an altitude of 14,150 feet and is the second highest astronomical facility in the world. |
